As anyone who has ever lived in the UK can tell you, we’re slightly obsessed with the weather and for good reason. It’s often changeable which for a sport like skydiving (where it’s kind of important) it’s a large discussion point. So every now and again if you’re a British skydiver, it’s good to go abroad. That way you get the most of the good weather and a holiday, it’s also good to see how other DZs work.

Empuria Brava

Located in the municipality of Castelló d’Empúries, in the Alt Empordà(Costa Brava, province of Gerona, Catalonia, Spain), and with good weather pretty much year round, Empuriabrava is a great location for a skydiving trip abroad.

DZ

The DZ itself is very relaxed with a centralised computer system to manage the jumps and jump credit meaning that reception only needs to be visited if something goes wrong or you are here to do a tandem jump. There is food on site and a small jump shop with the staff all over the DZ being friendly and again relaxed.

Hire

There are many sizes of canopies for hire ranging from 280s down to 150s, which is a welcome change to the normal limitation in the UK of DZs only having 190s and above for hire. Another highlight here is that once you have hired a rig, it’s yours for the whole day and so you don’t need to worry about getting a rig before your jump or making sure that you dropped it off with packers after your jump.
